Shitokai Murayama Spring Course - May 2009	03-05-2009
Murayama Sensei arrived from Toronto, Canada where he had been teaching as part of the Iwata Cup weekend festivities. Arriving at Heathrow Thursday morning Sensei Brian was there to greet him before driving to Worcester where the weekend course was to take place at the Elgar Technical College.
On Friday Sensei Brian showed Sensei Murayama the delights of the city of Bath including a tour of the Roman Baths, riverside walk and Pultney Bridge. After a coffee on Pultney Bridge there followed a quick drive to the Royal Crescent, via the famous Circus before returning back to Worcester for dinner with Worcester host, sensei Phil Powell & Sensei Steve Bolland who had just arrived from Ellesmere Port for the course.
Over 135 students were booked onto the course over the two days. Before the first seminar there was the Dan grade examinations. Shodan Ho examiners Sensei Phil and Sensei Steve graded 7 candidates while Murayama Sensei assessed 6 Shodan candidates and 4 Nidan hopefuls! Fortunately the result was a 100% success story which included SMA members - Melissa Clayton who received Shodan Ho, Rob Webb who received Shodan and Danielle Lee and Penny Kent who both received Nidan.
The Saturday night party was attended by 60 students and family members. Murayama Sensei commented on the friendly atmosphere of the Shitokai UK branch of his group and how much he enjoyed being here. After presenting the Dan grade menjyos the party really started and a good time was had by all. Congratulations to all who took part especially those who passed their exam, and of course thank you Sensei for again reminding us of The Way.
