Welsh Open Championships 2009 |

Only 3 from the SMA squad attended the Welsh Open - namely Luke Jones -Naomi Marshall and Lisa Marfell.
The event took place at the Welsh Institute of Sport - Sophia Gardens- Cardiff.
First to compete was Lisa who was our only kata competitor. Lisa performed katas Bassai Dai and Matsumura Bassai and secured a bronze medal. Later in kumite Lisa also secured a Silver losing to a seasoned member of the national England squad.
Luke also placed in the medals securing a bronze in the kumite. Naomi unfortunately lost by 1 point in the opening round of her event. Our congratulations go to the trio for their efforts and to Mr & Mrs Jones for their continued support. |
