XXIII Copa Murayama 2006 - 17-11-2006 |
This was our 4th visit to Monterrey Mexico and our fourth Copa Murayama. Making the trip this time were Sensei Phil Powell, Sensei Steve Bolland, Russell Heath, a student from Worcester dojo and myself of course.
After that joy of joys, Texas immigration, we made the final leg of our journey to Monterrey. In contrast to the glorious sunshine in Houtson, Monterrey was miserable and wet, aah home from home! |

4th Shushinkai National Championships 2006 - 12-11-2006 |
The day kicked off at 10.00am with over 190 competitors registered in 35 events.
The three areas were expertly managed by branch chief instructors Sensei Phil Powell, Steve Bolland and Brian Jarvis. Special guests Sensei Julian and Sharon Mallalieo also contributed greatly to the officials team throughout the event.
The day ran smoothly with many displays of technical excellence and competitive spirit.
The finals provided much excitement and entertainment for all the spectators and officials alike.
My thanks to all those who participated and supported the event. Special thanks to our medical team Mr Roger and Sharo, and Adrian of V-ifoto for his professional photographic services which captured that special moment for all competitors, family and friends.

5th WSKF Championships Tokyo Japan 2006 - 16-09-2006 |
This was my second visit to Japan, the first being in 1999 when I competed at the World Shukokai Championships in Kobe and I was very happy to be back.
This time however my role was official representative of Shito-Kai Murayama UK and also to apply for direct membership to the WSKF (World Shitoryu Karate-do Federation).
I arrived at our hotel with Murayma sensei and his 30 strong Mexican team feeling very travel weary but keen to introduce my head to that plump pillow. |

North Wales Open Championships 2005 - 09-07-2005 |
A small team of competitors took part in the North Wales Open namely Zoe Powell, Amy Yates, Charlotte Beese, Sam Beese, Luke Jones and Naomi Marshall. Team Coach was Sempai Jason Beese who provided tremendous support together with parents and chaufers Mr. Jones and Mr. Powell.
The team got off to a frustrating start with certain techniques it would appear just not being scored. However, with a little investingation by Coach Jason by the time the team events came around all the team were determined and changed their game plan accordingley to scoop a number of team medals!
My thanks to Sempai Jason and the parents who went to support the team and of course my congratulations to the team for their efforts and well deserved rewards, Osu!
Sensei Brian. |
